Testing Information Florida's curriculum is currently aligned to the Mathematics Florida Standards (MAFS) for math, the Language Arts Florida Standards (LAFS) for English language arts, and the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) for science and social studies. Students in grades 9 and 10 take the Florida Standards Assessments (FSAs) for ELA based on the LAFS. Students enrolled in Algebra I, Algebra 2, and Geometry are required to take the End of Course (EOC) tests based on the MAFS.
They also take the NGSSS EOCs in Biology I, Civics, and US History. Additionally, the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) is given to high school students to determine their level of college readiness in math, reading, and writing. Advanced Placement (AP) tests are taken by high-achievers in addition to, or instead of, the standard courses in the primary subjects. These could include AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Psychology, AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Calculus AB, AP Human Geography, AP Statistics, AP US History and AP World History. Many students also take the new SAT 2016, or the ACT to gauge college readiness. Finally, at the end of grade 12, students take the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) tests in math and reading.
